i went to lost pond to take pictures of tiny things before dog walking yesterday and i was disappointed that i didn't see another one of those funky leaf hoppers but all was ok after i found this pair on raspberry bushes right in front of the house.

some kind of slime mold - a land anemone!

I love those red n green leaf hoppers! I used to catch them in the grass all the time when I was a kiddo.

Ah ha! NOW I can tell what genus that slime mold is - Ceratiomyxa! There's only 4 species, so further ID should be relatively simple

well, it *might* be another Ceratiomyxa - where the sporangia branched? I did find this http://www.bluetier.org/mould/90709A.JPG but there's no ID available

Interesting development - according to the mycology group, it might be Ceratiomyxa anyway, which apparently comes in a wide range of colours
